The Valley: biomes named so far
Great Swamp, the Valley's Forest, grottoes, scorching sands, shore and seabed: the environments the studio has named, and what each screenshot shows.
Nara Studio has named six environment types in its creature writing: the Valley's Forest, the Great Swamp, grottoes, scorching sands, coastal areas and the valley's seas. There is no published map, so routes are not something anyone can give you yet.
Last checked: 28 October 2026 — studio creature pages and the ten Steam screenshots.

There is no map of the Valley and no published biome list. What does exist is something more useful in the short term: the studio names environments inside its creature writing, and the ten screenshots show what those places look like. Cross-reference the two and you get a credible picture of where you will be spending the 2028 release window.
Environments the studio has named
Every one of these comes from an official creature description, not from a screenshot alone — which means the place is canon even where no image exists yet.
| Environment | Named in | What lives there |
|---|---|---|
| The Valley's Forest | Biskem | Hopping birds that must roll to vent Neura |
| The Great Swamp | Alacris | Scepter-carving spellcasters |
| Grottoes | Chugaloo | Bloodsuckers that store meals for months |
| Scorching sands | Ankhat | Three-tailed feline with a heat mirage |
| Coastal areas | Yakid | The maritime mob's muscle |
| The valley's seas | Wakiza | The boss of the seas who rules the Yakid |
| Shore and seabed | Fortuna | Shell-dwellers that read pearls |
Seven distinct environments from fourteen creature entries. That is a strong hint about how the map is built: each region has a fauna with its own social structure, and the writing treats those structures as politics, not spawn tables.
What the screenshots show
Ten store stills, all in-engine, none of them labelled with a place name:
| Where it looks like | What is in frame |
|---|---|
| Forest at night, water and glowing flora | A character beside a boat, lanterns and roots |
| A stone platform above the valley | A character standing at the centre of a ringed platform |
| A forest clearing with ruins | A character, three small creatures, a stone archway |
| A camp | Characters around a fire, tents and wooden structures |
| Ruined arches, purple light | A creature with a glowing eye in a dark hall |
| Forest at dusk, pink light | A character crouched low, watching |
| Dark forest | A pink-haired winged creature in a dynamic pose |
| Forest ruins at dusk | A leaf-like creature standing still |
| Purple-lit forest | Two creatures running, one purple, one green |
| A stone path in daylight | Two characters, a large creature, and a dialogue box |
The desert appears in the trailer rather than the stills: a creature sprinting across sand with structures in the background, and a character mid-air over rock formations. Wind turbines appear too — which is the one piece of technology in anything published so far, and a deliberate contrast with the swamp-and-ruins look of the rest.
Two worlds, one Valley
The art direction runs on a deliberate clash. The studio describes the game as a vibrant, playful 3D aesthetic set against horror inspired by low-poly visuals and VHS tapes. The screenshots show exactly that split:
- Daylight Valley — saturated greens, warm stone, bright cyan sky, flowers everywhere.
- The other thing — near-black frames, violet glow, hanging branches, something with too many eyes.
Everything in the story supports the split. Neura is the life force; the Neura Clusters are where it stops flowing and builds up. A place where the Flux has stalled looks like the second list, and that is where the horror lives.
What you cannot plan yet
No route order, no fast-travel points, no map screen, no region levels and no boss locations have been published. If you see a "full map" for this game in 2026, it is fan art or invented — the studio has released one valley and zero maps.
What you can plan is a reading order: the roster page groups the fourteen documented creatures by the environment they come from, which is the closest thing to a region list that exists.
Next
- The Neoran roster — the fourteen creatures, grouped by habitat.
- Screenshot breakdown — all ten stills, read one by one.
- Trailer frame notes — the desert, the turbines and the horror descent in order.
