Release date watch
Everything published about the release: Steam says coming soon, the studio FAQ says 2028, and here is exactly where to check for the next update yourself.
Steam lists the game as coming soon with no date. The studio's own FAQ answers 'When will the game come out?' with 'Sometime in 2028.' No month, day, price or pre-order has been published, so any exact date you see elsewhere is guesswork.
Last checked: 28 October 2026 — Steam store page and the studio FAQ.
The release question has exactly one official answer, and it is a year: 2028. Everything more precise than that — a quarter, a month, a day, a price — has not been published by anyone with the authority to publish it.
What each source says
| Source | What it says | Read on |
|---|---|---|
| Steam store page | "Coming soon" — no date, no price, no pre-order | 28 Oct 2026 |
| Studio FAQ | "Sometime in 2028." | 28 Oct 2026 |
| Press kit fact sheet | "Placeholder window" | 28 Oct 2026 |
| Announcement trailer end card | Kickstarter call to action | 28 Oct 2026 |
| Steam news feed | Nothing — the feed is empty for this app | 28 Oct 2026 |
The FAQ answer is the best one available because it is the studio answering a direct question from a player. "Sometime in 2028" is a commitment to a year and nothing more, and it is worth treating that literally: a 2028 window announced in October 2026 has twenty-six months in it, and slippage inside that window is normal for a game of this size.
How to verify the date yourself
This is the part most guides skip. Here is the check that takes thirty seconds and beats any rumour:
- Open
store.steampowered.com/app/5473450. - Look at the release line under the title. While it reads Coming soon, there is no date. The moment a date exists, this line changes and a wishlist notification goes out.
- Check whether a price appears in the purchase box. A price usually lands with, or shortly before, a date.
- Check whether the demo button appears. A demo is typically the last milestone before launch for a game with this profile.
- Check the studio's own newsroom at
wonderfulneoranvalley.com— it updates before Steam does for this project.
Any page claiming a specific day without one of those five things changing is guessing.
Why the date is probably real
Three signals support 2028 rather than "2028 at the earliest":
- The campaign funded in February 2026 and the Steam page opened in October 2026 — a store page usually appears 12–24 months before launch.
- The studio is showing at Lucca Comics & Games from 28 October 2026, which is consumer marketing, not investor marketing.
- The roster grew from "more than 70" at campaign time to 85 on the store page, which is a content-complete-ish signal rather than a pre-production one.
None of that is proof. All of it points the same direction.
What a delay would look like
If the project slips, the changes will appear in this order:
| Order | What changes | Where you would see it |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The FAQ answer gets vaguer or gains a new year | Studio site |
| 2 | The store page release line stays "Coming soon" past the expected window | Steam |
| 3 | The newsroom goes quiet for months | Studio newsroom |
| 4 | A publisher is announced, or the campaign gets a production update | Studio newsroom |
Watching the first one is enough. A studio that has committed to a year in writing will change that sentence when the year changes.
The two-year practical question
If you are planning to buy in 2028, the useful thing to do now is put the game on a wishlist so release day reaches you without effort — the wishlist page covers which channel actually sends that email. And if you want to know what you would be buying, the mechanics pages describe the combat system in more detail than the store page does.
