The Knight and Iris
The two leads, in the studio's own words: a Neura-modified soldier who sees the future and an eighty-year-old dragon who wants the greatest jewel ever made.
The Knight is an Order of Knights soldier, genetically modified with Neura injections, whose foresight became the Timeline. Iris is a baby dragon who has wandered the Valley for about eighty years and can condense the Neura Flux into jewels.
Last checked: 28 October 2026 — studio character pages and the 27 October 2026 trailer post.

Two leads carry this story, and the studio has written them up properly — including what they like and what they cannot stand, which is a strange amount of detail for a game that has not shown a cutscene menu. It is also the best evidence that the writing is doing real work here.
The Knight
A soldier of the Order of Knights — the crown's special forces, whose members are genetically modified through injections of Neura. The Knight at the centre of the game gained the gift of foresight from that process: they sense danger and hostile intent moments before it happens, which in battle becomes the seven-turn timeline.
The backstory is unusually specific:
| Detail | What the studio says |
|---|---|
| Background | Soldier of the Order of Knights, the crown's special forces |
| Modification | Genetically modified through Neura injections |
| Power | Foresight — sensing danger and hostile intent before it happens |
| Why they are here | Years of studying the Valley in manuals, finally selected for the reconnaissance mission |
| Personality | Skilled at planning fights, impulsive about everything else, duty without exceptions |
| Loves | Planning any event in advance |
| Hates | Iris's teleporting jewel |
That last row is the whole relationship in six words. The Knight's entire identity is anticipation; Iris's signature object is the one thing that moves without warning.
Iris
A baby dragon who has wandered the Valley for about eighty years, studying its ways far from the dragons' capital. She can see the Neura Flux with the naked eye and condense it into magic jewels that influence its course.
Iris is the engine of the plot, and the studio is not subtle about her being dangerous:
| Detail | What the studio says |
|---|---|
| Age | Baby dragon, roughly eighty years in the Valley |
| Power | Sees the Neura Flux; condenses it into jewels that change its course |
| Motivation | Wants to create the greatest Neura jewel of all time |
| Method | Willing to make immoral or controversial choices, including a deal with a human soldier |
| Hook | She has sensed the Neura Clusters, and needs an escort to reach them |
| Loves | Gently swaying on the Neura |
| Hates | Gluten — she is severely celiac |
The celiac joke and the teleporting jewel are doing something important: they tell you the tone is not grimdark. This is a colourful valley with a horror underneath, and the leads are allowed to be funny in between.
The voice cast
The studio credits Troy Baker and Ben Starr as the voices of the leads, and its trailer post repeats the pairing. Which character each one plays has not been spelled out in the material read for this page, so it is not assigned here rather than guessed.
Why the pair matters mechanically
The two characters are not just story furniture. The combat system is built out of their collaboration:
- The Knight's foresight is the timeline — the reason you can see seven turns ahead.
- Iris's jewel-crafting is the Jewel layer — the reason your team has passive artefacts at all.
- Together they produce Synapse — Iris binds the Neura flow in the Knight's arm to a creature on the field, which is how the party gets to act before the queue starts.
That is a rare thing in a game of this size: the fiction and the systems are the same object. The reason you can plan seven turns is a character trait. The reason your team has builds is another character's hobby.
The unresolved thread
Iris wants the Neura Clusters for her jewel. The Clusters are also the thing corrupting the Valley. The studio has said the game is about uncovering the truth behind them, one run at a time — so the story's shape is a slow reveal, with Iris's motive as the question the game keeps asking. Whether she is a villain, a partner, or both is the thing the 2028 release will answer.
