Demo, beta and playtest status
What has actually been playable in public, what the backer tiers promised, and the three places a demo would appear first if one is released.
No public demo is downloadable from Steam today: the store page carries a wishlist call to action rather than a demo button. The studio has described backer-only channels for beta testers rather than a public build.
Last checked: 28 October 2026 — Steam store page and the studio FAQ.
There is no demo. That is the whole answer today, but the interesting part is why there is no demo and where one would appear first if that changes.
What is available right now
| Thing | Available | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Public demo | No | Steam page offers wishlist, not a demo download |
| Public beta | No | No sign-up page exists |
| Playtest | No | No Steam playtest button on the store page |
| Backer beta | Not started | Backers get Discord channels, not a build |
| Hands-on at an event | Possibly | Lucca Comics & Games, 28 Oct – 1 Nov 2026 |
The FAQ's wording on backer access is precise: beta testers and backers will get access to exclusive channels in the future, not to a build. That is a community arrangement rather than a test programme.
What the campaign did and did not promise
The Kickstarter page promises an artbook, merchandise and Discord access. It does not promise a demo, a beta weekend or early access. For a game funded in February 2026 and shipping in 2028, that is a normal position — a demo eighteen months before launch would be a vertical slice with nothing behind it.
Where a demo would appear first
If the studio decides to release one, watch these in this order:
- The Steam store page, as a green "Download Demo" button above the purchase box. This is the standard route and it creates a second app ID with its own store page.
- Steam's Next Fest, which runs several times a year and is where most indie demos appear. A 2028 release would put the relevant Next Fest in 2027.
- The studio's own newsroom, which has published before Steam for every announcement so far.
A demo appearing anywhere else — a random download link, a "leaked build" — should be treated as unsafe.
What a demo would actually teach you
Worth knowing what to test if one arrives, because this game's quality will live or die on two things that a demo can show in ten minutes:
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Does the queue feel readable at a glance? | Seven slots of information is a lot of screen |
| Do enemy combos telegraph honestly? | The whole design rests on the plan being fair |
| Does Pass ever feel good? | If not, the resource economy is decorative |
| Is a Synapse worth its charges? | The main build decision |
| Do conversations have real choices? | Otherwise recruiting is a cutscene |
Playtest at Lucca
The studio has a booth at Lucca Comics & Games from 28 October to 1 November 2026, in Sala Canova, and its announcement says the development team will be there with "the latest updates on the game". Whether that includes a playable build has not been stated. If you are at the show, that is the only place a hands-on is plausible before 2027.
